Hi, I’m Sheena, the founder and designer behind North Kinder.

Before North Kinder, I spent seven years teaching high school math and science. Then I became a mom and went looking for clothing for my son that was free from harmful chemicals, ethically made, and actually beautiful. I couldn’t find it, so I sat down at my sewing machine and made it myself.

Ten years later, starting from my home sewing machine had grown into a brand carried by more than 50 retailers, with over 20,000 online orders in our peak years. I designed a custom dress for the Jilly Box, collaborated with Rebecca Robertson and Lauren Kennedy, and spotted North Kinder on the little ones of many well-known faces. Every piece was designed by me, made from OEKO-TEX certified fabrics, and ethically manufactured in Vancouver, Canada, down to the locally made drawstrings and tags.

But here’s what I didn’t expect. Building this brand taught me far more than how to make clothing. It taught me how to trust my own vision, take the leap before I felt ready, and keep going when it would have been easier to play small.
